why menstrual equity matters.

at any given time, 25% of the world population menstruates.

This means that 800 million people menstruate daily. Over the course of just one month, 1.8 billion people menstruate worldwide. This defines a significant community need that is not being provided universally - free menstrual products.

Yet 20% of college students can’t afford period products

LET'S CHANGE THIS.

LET'S CHANGE THIS.

When students cannot afford period products, they are forced to choose between basic necessities. This decreases class attendance and overall learning satisfaction.

For individuals with unpredictable periods such as those on birth control, with chronic conditions, or on hormonal medicines, they are often forced to skip class to run back home and get products.

When we say “menstrual equity,” we are referring to these burdens. We specifically are calling for fair and equal access to menstrual products for all those who menstruate, so that it does not disproportionately affect some individuals over others. Everyone deserves access to period products, whether they can afford them or not.

menstrual health is public health

If someone is unable to access a menstrual product, they can develop toxic shock syndrome, infections, or skin irritation. Providing free access to products removes this issue from the equation, uplifting community health.

We’re changing this reality one product at a time.

Last semester, over 15,000 of our free products were used by UNC students. We plan on expanding our reach through a wall-mounted dispenser system across campus.
